Question: Can I burn my Econoburn to heat only my domestic hot water in the summer months?

Answer: YES - The Econoburn Gasification Boiler will use very little firewood when heating only domestic hot water.

Question: Can I use the Econoburn Boiler like a outdoor wood boiler?

Answer: Yes - the Econoburn boiler can be installed into a out building, shed or garage. Keep the smoke, dust and firewood out of your home.

Question: How often will I have to clean the Econoburn Boiler?

Answer: As little as once a month. The cleaning process takes less than two minutes. A yearly cleaning is also required after the heating season has ended.

Question: How much wood will the Econoburn Boiler use?

Answer: It depends on your current fuel usage. Econoburn boilers burn much less firewood than traditional wood furnaces or outdoor wood boilers, the reason is our unique gasification process.

Question: What is gasification and how does it work?

Answer: Wood gasification is the process of heating  wood in an oxygen-limited chamber until volatile pyrolysis gases (i.e., carbon monoxide, hydrogen, and oxygen) are released from the wood and combusted.

In the temperature range of 395°F to 535°F, the majority of the gases--which yield from 60% to 80% of the heat content of the wood are driven off.

The emitted wood gases are then superheated and mixed with air or pure oxygen for complete combustion, leaving little or no ash, and the heat produced is transferred to a boiler for energy distribution.

An extremely high combustion efficiency is obtained by gasification, thereby generating minimal emissions.

Question: Does the Econoburn obtain more heat by using the gasification process?

Answer: YES - By burning smoke and hot gasses the Econoburn Boiler is able to obtain much more heat from the same amount of burned wood. That is why our boiler's efficiency is 87%. Many other wood boilers and especially outdoor wood boilers and furnaces only have efficiency ratings of 40%-50%. That is why you do not see published efficiency ratings for those products.

Question: Do Econoburn Boilers smoke?

Answer: Of course they smoke, a little. Once the internal temperatures get to an optimal operating level and the unit goes into full gasification, very little smoke is released into the air. As a matter of fact, you may look at the chimney and wonder if the Econoburn Boiler is actully burning, there is that little smoke emmitted from the chimney! Remember, we are burning smoke and gas that is normally released if you were burning a traditional wood stove or outdoor wood boiler.

Question: What size Econoburn Boiler do I need?

Answer: The suggested models below are based on a well insulated home. Other factors to consider are quality, size and number of windows, R-Value of insulation in wall and ceilings, storm doors, single story or double story home, and geographical region (i.e. cold climate such as New York, Michigan, Canada, or semi warm climate such as Virginia, Tennessee).

If your residence is poorly insulated or has old single pane windows, it is recommended that the next larger model boiler be purchased.

Answer: No - the chimney sizes are set to make the Econoburn boiler burn at peak performance.

Answer: Once your check clears the bank, you can expect shipment within three weeks.

Question: How much does it cost to ship an Econoburn Boiler?

Answer: We will ship your Econoburn Boiler F.O.B. Brocton, New York. We do not profit from freight charges. We will give you a quote if requested.

Answer: Yes, but we recommend the use of a heating professional to ensure compliance with local building and fire codes, and to validate the product warranty.
